The timely shipping, packaging details, and high quality of the product I ordered is superior! I highly recommend this seller.I'm an adventurous crocheter so I decided to challenge my knitting skills. This book is wunderbar! Horst brings a fresh and fun creative spin to modular knitting. I think it's the knitted version of crochet "scrumbling." So much fun designing sweaters using my rather extensive yarn stash!Having made a cot blanket from a Horst Schulz pattern I found online, I was interested in his approach to clothing. This is less a pattern book than guidance on patchwork knitting - there are instructions for the 'patches' which you need to assemble against a paper pattern you devise for the garment. There are good instructions for working in the ends and knitting pieces together as you go (so no significant amounts of sewing in required). There are some fun ideas and the opportunity for some creative garments - you have to add a fair bit yourself, so if what you are looking for is a step by step guide to making a garment, this may not be for you. If what you want is a challenge and a chance to play and make it up as you go along, then go for it!I first saw this book over 20 years ago, and I regretted not buying it then. I was so glad to find it available for sale on Amazon. I believe many contemporary designers of modular knitting started by taking a class from Horst Schultz. He taught knitting at a department store, so he knows how to explain his techniques in a down to earth way. He encourages knitters to express themselves with color and design. It's inspirational, and shows how to make one of a kind sweaters and afghans. .A book and designer I'd heard about for quite some time and finally I found this book. It is full of creative ideas but is probably not suitable for anyone in the novice-knitter category; one could buy it and refer to it later when skills have been developed a bit more. I am enjoying it and have already been playing with some ideas. This is not a "prescription" knitting book telling how many stitches to CO, etc. Instead he has given a visually-rich set of photos of his creations to inspire other knitters. I love the way he has made these otherwise boxy-shaped modular sweaters into pieces that will feel more fitted and his treatment of plackets and ribbing is exciting.Great designs and innovation. But the instructions are sometimes a bit difficult to understand. It may be the translation. However, the designs are much more varied than the typical, American patchwork, which was derived from this. This book has some great ideas for modular knitting, but it is not for the faint of heart. Lots of the ideas are in little diagrams and in the pictures, not in the text. It is surely worth purchasing if you are into modular knitting, but it is not a beginners book.SusiOne of the worst books about knitting i have brought don't even waste your money there are a lot of other books far better than this one if you like modular knitting and using shapes then I would recommend dazzling knits and swing swagger and drape. This is a fantastic book, exciting, imaginative and inspiring! Do write more, Mr Schulz. Thank you.Fantastic service from Saprotex International!Interesting ideas
